About Fiduciary Wealth Partners

Fiduciary Wealth Partners was founded by Preston McSwain and James Cornell to form fiduciary wealth and investment management partnerships with our clients, our professional colleagues, and our community.

We chose the name Fiduciary Wealth Partners to help promote our culture and advisory approach.

The word Fiduciary was picked to make a statement about the standard of care we believe should apply in the investment and wealth management business.  Unfortunately, we find the term fiduciary is often misused.

Our fiduciary responsibility is important to us and we encourage you to visit our Fiduciary Pledge and Values pages to learn more about our philosophy and actions we have taken to place the interests of our clients first.

Wealth was chosen over words like investments or capital because of our focus on providing our partners with integrated advice based on their plans.  We work to simplify the complex and provide full transparency into the structure and performance of wealth plans, so they are optimized to meet our partners’ goals, not the strategies or models of others.

We picked the word Partners to speak to the relationships we form with our clients.  When managing individual wealth, we understand we are being entrusted with money that is held for the benefit of family members and other important beneficiaries.  We call our clients partners and treat them as such by asking ourselves the following questions:

“Are we putting the interests of our partners first?”

“Is this advice that we would give to our families?”

When working with families, we understand that experience matters.  The founders of Fiduciary Wealth Partners, Preston McSwain and James Cornell, together have more than 60 years of experience working in senior management and advisory positions with leading investment management and trust companies.
